Forced Perspective

my first picture is of Alex hugging a pole, but i turned the camera on its side when taking it so it seems like she is trying to not fall off. i used the clone stamp tool a lot when editing this picture so that it would look more realistic.

this photoi is of Alex laying down while making this "running" action. i had to take several shots of her in this action to make sure that it looked real. i put on a surface blur to make it seem almot as if she was actually in action.

Solarisation

In this picture i changed the curve to darken the lights and brighten the darks.

In this photo i adjusted the lumonosity curve

For this photo i pulled up the curves to bring out the dark colors (negative solarisation)

BEFORE AND AFTER

RHYTHM COMPOSITES

For my first photo i took five pictures of my friend moving across the sign that is in front of the high school. I stood in place the whole time to make sure that the pictures could be realistically put into one of the pictures. I used a lot of different techniques to try and get the best quality of "marching ants". I used the quick mask mode to go around the edges and just refine them. Her hands were probably the hardest part to do, just because i wanted to make sure that they didn't look like claws. i had to brighten one of the pictures because she was under a heavy shadow, so i brightened up one of the layers to makes sure that she looked like she "fit in" with the others. I also put a slight shadow under one of the pictures to make her body blend in better with the background photo.

For my second picture i initially tried to do all five of the pictures i had taken of her slowly eating a taco, but it ended up looking cluttered and more like one big blobby shadow. I deleted a few layers and kept three of them. I changed the blending modes on two of the layers to make it look like her hand was fading away, which i personally really liked the effect of.

Assignment 1

For my first image i overlayed a picture of my friend Gracie, and a picture of the dash of my car and the sunny outside (: For the second picture i overlayed a picture of my friend Hannah and a picture of my jeans that i took when i first got my camera. I reduced the opacity to 53% and used the "Lighter Color" mode for the colors. I really like this blending tool because it gives people a new edge for their photos.

COLOR SPLASH

For my first photo i used the Magnetic lasso tool to get the "marching ants" around my main subject (my dog) then select inverse to get the background colors in black and white.

For my second photo i also used the Magnetic lasso tool and then i had to edit in quick mode mask mode to make sure that the edges of my subject were in color instead of black and white. I put on a green filter for my black and white parts because i thought that it had some good contrast against the pop in my main subjects clothes and hair.

For our second assignment we were supposed to epirament with the white balance opation on our cameras. I took a picture of my keyboard at home at an angel to make it more interesting. We were supposed to use the clone stamp tool in photoshop to try and put more focus on the main subject. I decided to stamp over the *Find and other random words on the sides of the keys. I thought that the picture looked more clear after i covered those up. I think that this picture lacked creativity but the strength of it was the clone stamp did not look fake, i thought i did a nice job at that.

A Day in the Life

For our first assignment i decided to do a Day in the Life of my five year old golden retriever Maddie. For this photo i brightened the picture up a little because everything in the background was fairly dark. I also decided to darken the shadows with the contrast tool. I really liked the fact that i had shown a strong understanding of the rule of thirds but i think that the picture could have been better if i brightened the colors more.

Artist Statement

1. Art is something that a lot of people enjoy because they arn't contained to one specific idea. People are free to be creative, and express themselves however they wish, which is often an issue for some kids with their parents, or school or what have you. I personally like to express myself through art because people usually don't think of me as the "artsy" type. I'm not good at drawing or singing or really anything that "artistic" but i've always enjoyed taking pictures. On all of our family vacations i was the one going crazy with the camera. I think now that i've gotten older i've realized how to take higher quality pictures instead of just a zillion of them.

2. A lot of things inspire me. I love nature, so going camping or hiking really makes me want to whip out the camera and start capturing the true beauty of the raw earth. The changing seasons is another thing that i love. Seeing new flowers popping up from the snow covered ground in the spring, or the water that rushes on the sides of the streets with thin sheets of ice still hovering above.

3. Most of my "work" is just of my friends, or concerts or trips that i've taken. I would like to expand my creativity and abilities with this course and hopefully be able to see more through my lense then just the normal things that should be captured.

1. The artist i chose to examine was the photographer who took my senior photos Melissa Louise. She takes pictures for seniors or weddings, family photos, or babies first pictures.

2. She will sometimes put two pictures next to eachother on paint or something. She also in one picture i saw layed a picture of a father and his son and then just a picture of his son over each other so they got that two picture effect without the harsh line of the paint aspect. She also seems to focus a lot on a persons eyes, feet, and hands.

3. I think that all of her pictures are beautiful because she doesnt make the people in them look over edited or awkward. She takes the simplest things and turns them into a beautiful shot which i think is a great tallent.

4. HERE, take a look at her site here.
